New SausageWareGames Game for Spectrum Incoming & Free Games Now!

SausageWareGames is not only one of the best-named developers in the ZX Spectrum homebrew scene at the moment, but they’re also becoming one of the most prolific.

SausageWareGames’ next game, titled Full Spectrum Defence, a new game for 128K ZX Spectrums, is now complete, and it will be released by bitmapsoft.co.uk in the next few weeks, priced at £1.99 on digital, and at £9.99 for the physical release.

Full Spectrum Defence is is a “tower defense” game inspired by modern PC games such as Kingdom Rush, and Defence Grid. Developer Tom Potter told us that: “it’s not a genre I’ve seen done on the Speccy before.”

The game is set inside a ZX Spectrum that’s under attack from viruses and it’s the player’s job to deploy the anti-virus defenses to stop them getting through to the CPU. It features 40 levels across four difficulty settings ranging from “Cosy” to “Evil”. Sounds fun!

Full Spectrum Defence’s code and graphics are by Tom Potter, with music by Joe Olney, and titke art by Kev McGrorty.

We’ll have a full review of Full Spectrum Defence for you soon, but in the meantime, to mark the imminent release of Full Spectrum Defence, SausageWareGames’ previous releases Knightmare, based on the popular CITV adventure game show; and S.C.I.O.N, the brilliant top-down shooter, which we previously reviewed, are both currently available for free via itch.io.

I’m Mubarak AlSabah, born in ’87, and I’m a big fan of retro games. I’ve been gaming since ’93, so it’s been a lifelong passion for me. Collecting retro games is my favorite hobby, and I have a great collection that takes you back in time. In addition to gaming, I also have 830+ premium domain names, which is another hobby that I love just as much. I started collecting domains in ’97, combining my interest in the digital world with my love for nostalgic gaming. https://instagram.com/n64 https://x.com/stage1 https://www.mubarak.com/
