{"id":30173,"date":"2026-01-07T13:58:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-07T13:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.retronews.com\/?p=30086"},"modified":"2026-03-26T08:58:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T08:58:08","slug":"touchdown-fever","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.retronews.com\/staging\/news\/touchdown-fever\/","title":{"rendered":"Touchdown Fever to Break out of the Arcade Archives Tomorrow"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br \/><strong>Touchdown Fever<\/strong> has been announced as this week\u2019s release in <strong>Hamster Corporation<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>Arcade Archives<\/strong> and <strong>Arcade Archives 2<\/strong> lines of emulated coin-op titles, following on from the previous two weeks\u2019 releases of Space Invaders and its sequel, which were the 500th and 501st <strong>Arcade Archives<\/strong> releases, on which we <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retronews.com\/staging\/arcade-archives-500th\/\">previously reported<\/a>.<br \/><br \/>Originally released into arcades by <strong>SNK<\/strong> in 1987, <strong>Touchdown Fever<\/strong> is an American football game, as you may well have guessed from its title.<br \/><br \/>Prior to these <strong>Arcade archives<\/strong> and <strong>Arcade Archives 2<\/strong> releases of <strong>Touchdown Fever<\/strong>, the game also received home releases on Nintendo\u2019s 8-bit home consoles, with a Famicom release in Japan in 1988, and an NES release in North America in 1991. The game&#8217;s most recent home release was a PSP port back in 2012.<br \/><br \/>And now, thanks to <strong>Hamster Corporation<\/strong>, the original arcade version of <strong>Touchdown Fever<\/strong> will be playable at home, nearly 40 years after it was originally released into arcades.<br \/><br \/>The <strong>Arcade Archives<\/strong> version of <strong>Touchdown Fever<\/strong> will be released on <strong>PlayStation 4<\/strong> and <strong>Nintendo Switch<\/strong>, priced at $7.99, with the <strong>Arcade Archives 2<\/strong> version set to touch down on <strong>PlayStation 5<\/strong> and <strong>Xbox Series X|S<\/strong>, priced at $9.99.
