6 More Classic Toaplan Arcade Games Heading to Evercade

Toaplan Arcade 4  is the latest cartridge to be announced for the  Evercade format. Evercade is a range of cartridge-based retro-targeted handheld, home (and soon bartop) games consoles for which officially-licensed collections of classic retro games are released.

Evercade cartridges to date have compiled arcade games, console games, home computer games, and modern retro-style indie games, with Evercade cartridges becoming almost as collectible as the original games that they are reissuing, with some some out-of-print Evercade cartridges already commanding high prices on the secondary market.

Publishers who have seen their retro games collected on Evercade so far have included big hitters such as Namco and Atari, and smaller players such as Toaplan. It’s the latter of these who will soon be making a return visit to the format, as Evercade manufacturers Blaze Entertainment have announced that the Toaplan Arcade 4 collection will be released this December, with pre-orders opening on 30th October 2024.

Toaplan Arcade 4 collects six of the publisher’s games, five which are the arcade versions, including  Dogyuun, Grind Stormer, Snow Bros. 2, Pipi & Bibi’s, and Knuckle Bash, as well as the NES version of Sky Shark, which was a conversion of the coin-op Flying Shark.
With shoot ‘em ups, platform games, and a beat ‘em up, Toaplan Arcade 4 has something to suit most retro gamers!

I'm a retro gamer and writer who writes about video games for online and print outlets. My love of gaming began way back in 1986 with the ZX Spectrum, before becoming a lifelong Nintendo fan in 1990 with the Game Boy. And although I keep up with modern gaming, we all know you can't beat retro classics (or maybe I'm just old!) https://x.com/paultwist
