Cop Bastard is a new first-person shooter that pubisher Retrovibe describes as being: “inspired by vintage cop thrillers and late-90s PC shooters,” adding that: “ the game wraps players in a gritty VHS look and feel as they tear through high-stakes firefights across Osaka nightclubs, backstreets, apartment buildings, and industrial warehouses where reflexes and aggression are the only way out alive,” and promising that: “Cop Bastard delivers direct, high-pressure shootouts built on classic late-90s PC shooter fundamentals, which it defines as follows…
“Chaotic Firefights: Tight corridors, lethal room clears, and aggressive enemies that force split-second decisions
Street-Issued Arsenal: From a trusty Beretta and a devastating double-barrel shotgun to a heavy magnum revolver, filling rooms with thick smoke, flying lead, and pure carnage
Risk and Reward: Dropping enemies builds up your charge meter, forcing a tactical choice: spend the charge to spit on fallen Yakuza goons and restore health, or use it to enter slow motion for cinematic hero moments and room-clearing montages.
Extreme Prejudice: Emptying extra rounds into already-dead targets jacks up points, rewarding ruthless aggression over ammo conservation.”
Cop Bastard has been developed by the indie developer Targim, which says that it is: “bringing a distinct retro vision to the first-person shooter genre with Cop Bastard, set in early 90s Osaka.”
Cop Bastard is set be be published by the indie publisher Retrovibe (on whose games we have reported previously), on October 29, 2026, and it will be available on PC via both Steam and GOG.
