Monkey Island Creator Ron Gilbert Is Developing A RPG Adventure Game In The Style Of Zelda

Monkey Island creator Ron Gilbert is currently working on a new RPG game that draws inspiration from popular titles such as Zelda, Diablo, and Thimbleweed Park. Gilbert has been sharing updates on the game’s development on his Mastodon account since the beginning of the year.

The untitled game is described as a mix of Classic Zelda, Diablo, and Thimbleweed Park, and it is expected to be released in late 2024 or early 2025. Elissa Black, a seasoned quest designer, has recently joined the team, increasing the chances of the game being completed on schedule. Gilbert humorously mentioned that Black‘s involvement has boosted the likelihood of him staying motivated and finishing the game before losing interest.

I’m Yousiff Taqi, born in ’87, and I’ve been a huge fan of retro games for as long as I can remember. My favorites are RPGs, Platformers, and Action Adventure. I’ve been interested in computers ever since I was young, which is why I pursued a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from Purdue University. Now, armed with my passion for both retro gaming and computer engineering, I’m excited to embark on new adventures in the world of technology, where I hope to merge my interests and make meaningful contributions. https://www.instagram.com/Aeon https://twitter.com/FencerDarkwind
