Crash 4 Designer Reveals Heartbreaking Never-Released Crash 5

Nicholas Kole, character designer and illustrator for Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, has revealed that a version of Crash 5, presumably developed by Toys for Bob, was cancelled in the past. With Microsoft‘s acquisition of Activision Blizzard causing uncertainty in the industry, hopes were high for the future of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon under Xbox‘s leadership. However, there has been little news on the front of these iconic platforming characters since the acquisition, with Toys for Bob transitioning into an indie studio.

The cancellation of “Project Dragon,” which fans speculated to be a new Spyro game, further fuels disappointment. While details about the cancelled Crash 5 project remain scarce, it is clear that it would have been tied to Toys for Bob before their independence. Despite this setback, it is possible that a different version of Crash 5 may still materialize in the future.
