Star Fox Renamed Starwing & More Video Game Naming Curiosities

Star Fox on the SNES was renamed Starwing in PAL region territories due to potential issues with the German company StarVox. Four years later, Star Fox 64 was also renamed to Lylat Wars in these regions. Interestingly, there was an earlier Starfox game for the Commodore 64 in 1987, which was eventually released in the US as The Rubicon Alliance. Scott the Woz discussed this name change and other video game naming oddities in his latest video, such as ‘4 Resident Evil‘ and ‘Resident Evil 4‘ on the PS4.

I’m Yousiff Taqi, born in ’87, and I’ve been a huge fan of retro games for as long as I can remember. My favorites are RPGs, Platformers, and Action Adventure. I’ve been interested in computers ever since I was young, which is why I pursued a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from Purdue University. Now, armed with my passion for both retro gaming and computer engineering, I’m excited to embark on new adventures in the world of technology, where I hope to merge my interests and make meaningful contributions. https://www.instagram.com/Aeon https://twitter.com/FencerDarkwind
