Ultima VII: Revisited – Transforming Classic RPG with Isometric 3D

A developer named Anthony Salter is working on a new engine called Ultima VII: Revisited to transform the classic RPG Ultima VII into an isometric 3D experience while enhancing its gameplay.

Originally released in 1992, Ultima VII is highly regarded but can be difficult for modern players due to its outdated mechanics. Previous projects like Exult have improved the game’s playability, yet Salter aims to address its core limitations by fully embracing its 3D potential. He seeks to modernize the visual style and refine gameplay elements like inventory and combat systems. Salter‘s goal is to provide a fresh way to enjoy Ultima VII, making it more accessible for contemporary audiences.

The project’s latest version, 0.0.7, will soon be available for download, and interested players can follow its development on Discord.

I’m Yousiff Taqi, born in ’87, and I’ve been a huge fan of retro games for as long as I can remember. My favorites are RPGs, Platformers, and Action Adventure. I’ve been interested in computers ever since I was young, which is why I pursued a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from Purdue University. Now, armed with my passion for both retro gaming and computer engineering, I’m excited to embark on new adventures in the world of technology, where I hope to merge my interests and make meaningful contributions. https://www.instagram.com/Aeon https://twitter.com/FencerDarkwind
