Minecraft-Inspired Demake Revives Classic on GameCube

An indie developer, known as Meesedev, is creating a “Minecraft-inspired” game for the GameCube and Dreamcast, leveraging Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 as a base. Since its early access launch in 2009, Minecraft has been adapted to numerous gaming platforms, and this new project aims to replicate its block-based mechanics on retro consoles by developing a custom engine.

Meesedev has managed to fit 25 million blocks into 24 MB of RAM, achieving a render distance greater than that of some newer consoles, showcasing impressive optimization. Once completed, the game will feature original content to differentiate it from Minecraft, ensuring unique gameplay while maintaining a block-based environment.

I’m Yousiff Taqi, born in ’87, and I’ve been a huge fan of retro games for as long as I can remember. My favorites are RPGs, Platformers, and Action Adventure. I’ve been interested in computers ever since I was young, which is why I pursued a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from Purdue University. Now, armed with my passion for both retro gaming and computer engineering, I’m excited to embark on new adventures in the world of technology, where I hope to merge my interests and make meaningful contributions. https://www.instagram.com/Aeon https://twitter.com/FencerDarkwind
