Atari Recharged Soundtrack to Charge onto Vinyl

Atari Recharged is a series of video games that modernize some of Atari’s most popular arcade games, adding power-ups, vibrant graphics, challenges, two-player couch co-op and all-new original soundtracks.

And it’s the soundtracks to the games that form the basis of this limited-edition vinyl release.

The award-winning composer Megan McDuffee crafted soundtracks for all ten Atari Recharged games, which include Asteroids, Berzerk, Black Widow, Breakout, Cavern of Mars, Centipede, Gravitar, Missile Command, Quantum and Yars. Megan’s 80’s-inspired electro pop music mintegrates both modern and retro influences, and the soundtracks will now see a limited edition vinyl release presented in a gatefold format, featuring 40 tracks on two colored vinyl records.

French publisher Microids Records have teamed up with Atari to release the Atari Recharged vinyl soundtrack which follows the successful release of the Atari 50 soundtrack on vinyl at the start of this year. The Atari Recharged two-disc vinyl soundtrack is set for release on translucent blue and magenta vinyl on January 17 2025, with pre-orders open now via Microids Records.

Casandra Brown, Senior Director of Atari said of the collection: “This 2LP limited edition color vinyl pressing is a wonderful tribute to the work of composer Megan McDufee, and we know fans of retro gaming and classic Atari games will want to have this in their personal collections.”

I'm a retro gamer and writer who writes about video games for online and print outlets. My love of gaming began way back in 1986 with the ZX Spectrum, before becoming a lifelong Nintendo fan in 1990 with the Game Boy. And although I keep up with modern gaming, we all know you can't beat retro classics (or maybe I'm just old!)
