Konami’s quirky 1991 arcade racing game, Escape Kids, is officially making its way to home consoles for the first time. The game will be released on January 16, 2025, for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch as part of the Arcade Archives series. This marks a significant moment for fans of retro gaming, as the title was previously exclusive to arcades and has remained relatively obscure compared to Konami’s other classics.
Escape Kids is a unique blend of racing and obstacle course gameplay, where players control cartoonish characters running through tracks filled with hazards, speed boosts, and power-ups. The game features competitive multiplayer mechanics, allowing players to sabotage opponents while racing to the finish line. Its unconventional premise and vibrant art style set it apart from traditional arcade racers of its time.
The Arcade Archives release will include modern enhancements such as leaderboard support, customizable difficulty settings, and save states to make the game more accessible to contemporary audiences.
