Ever Wanted to Run Windows on Game Boy? You need GBS Windows

If you did ever want to run Windows on Game Boy, you’re in luck! Windows on Game Boy has become a somewhat unlikely a reality with GBS Windows.

We’re not quite sure why you would want to run Windows on Game Boy, but quite a few people seem to want to do so, as the first two batches of GBS Windows sold out pretty quickly, and a third has almost sold out already, with a mere six copies left at the time of writing so if you do want to run Windows on Game Boy, you’d better dash over to RetroGameShopES’s Etsy store pretty quickly to snap up a copy of of GBS Windows on physical Game Boy cartridge for £40.

GBS Windows is based on 1992’s Windows 3.1 and it has been developed by Game Boy developer Ruben Retro.

GBS Windows brings several popular Windows features to Game Boy, such as Minesweeper, Paint (which even offers compatibility with the Game Boy Printer), and a media player for playing music clips. If you miss out on GBS Windows this time round, we recommend keeping an eye on the X feeds of Ruben Retro and Cajas Retro for updates on further pressings of the GBS Windows cartridge.

I'm a retro gamer and writer who writes about video games for online and print outlets. My love of gaming began way back in 1986 with the ZX Spectrum, before becoming a lifelong Nintendo fan in 1990 with the Game Boy. And although I keep up with modern gaming, we all know you can't beat retro classics (or maybe I'm just old!) https://x.com/paultwist
