It only seems like yesterday since last reported on a new Arcade Archives release, and that’s because it was! But Hamster Corporation has already released details of another Macross arcade title that’s set to blast out of the Arcade Archives next month.
Back in October last year we reported that 19992’s Macross arcade game Super Dimension Fortress Macross would be getting a modern release on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch via Arcade Archives, and now comes news that its 1993 sequel, Super Dimension Fortress Macross II will also be getting an Arcade Archives release. The sequel is set in 2092, 80 years after the first game, and like its predecessor, it is based on a Macross OVA (original video anime), this time, one which went by the title of ‘Super Dimension Fortress Macross II – Lovers Again.’
, Super Dimension Fortress Macross II is described by Hamster Corporation as a “time attack shoot ‘em up”, and in the game you must complete each level within a set time limit. It was originally released into arcades by Banpresto in 1993.
Super Dimension Fortress Macross II‘s Arcade Archives release will be the game’s fires ever release on a home format, and it will be released via the Arcade Archives line on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on July 10th, 2025 (in Japan, at least. The first game didn’t make it out of Japan even via Arcade Archives, so there’s a good chance this one won’t either.)
