Super Basketball Slam Dunks out of the Arcade Archives

Super Basketball Arcade Archives

Super Basketball is this week’s Arcade Archives release, available now on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 as usual, and it follows last week’s Arcade Archives release of Banpresto’s anime tie-in shooter Super Dimension Fortress Macross II, on which we previously reported.

As you may have guessed, Super Basketball is a basketball game, and it’s a real oldie this week, being over 40 years of age, having made its debut way back in 1984, when Konami released the game into arcades.

Arcade Archives’ publisher Hamster Corporation had this to say about Super Basketball: “There are 10 competing teams. Every match starts at a disadvantage.
Use skillful dribbling and passing to turn the tide and aim to win within the time limit.” The Arcade Archives version of Super Basketball offers customizable settings such as adjustable difficulty, and the ability to “reproduce the atmosphere of the brown tube TVs that the game would have appeared on back in the day, adding extra 1980s graphical authenticity.

The Arcade Archives version of Super Basketball was released on Thursday 17th July 2025, and it is available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Prior to the Arcade Archives release of the game, it was last released as part of the Konami Classics Series: Arcade Hits compilation on Nintendo DS back in 2007, which itself is some 18 years ago!
