Rick Dangerous DX Ventures onto Genesis

Rick Dangerous DX

Rick Dangerous DX is a new homebrew fan port of Rick Dangerous, Core Design’s beloved Indiana Jones-inspired platform game, which originally saw release on a variety of 8-bit and 16-bit home computers back in 1989, when it was published by Firebird Software.

This new homebrew fan port of Rick Dangerous, titled, Rick Dangerous DX, has been created for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, and it is based on an earlier enhanced homebrew fan port of the game that was previously released for the Nintendo Wii. Rick Dangerous DX for Genesis features the remastered graphics from the earlier Wii fan port of the game, as well as a brand-new title screen based on original Rick Dangerous art from 2018.
Rick Dangerous DX has been created by Z-Team, whose previous fan ports include bringing BC Kid (Bonk) to the Sega Master System, and and the Amiga/Atari ST fantasy fighter Barbarian to Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, as well as porting Archer Maclean’s beloved IK+ home computer karate game to Sega Genesis/Mega Drive.

One of the great things about being a retro gamer in the 21st century is the thriving homebrew scene, which excels not only at creating new games for old formats, but also at porting at classic retro games to machines on which the games never originally appeared. Rick Dangerous DX is available to download now, from itch.io,  on a name your own price basis.
