Fusion Retro Books 2026 Annuals Kickstarter Smashes Target in Hours

Fusion Retro Books is a prolific publisher not only of a wide range of books dedicated to retro gaming, but also of regularly published periodical magazines.

The magazines published by Fusion Retro Books include Fusion (which is a multiformat title  dedicated to videogaming from all eras, retro to modern), Crash (dedicated to the 8-bit ZX Spectrum home computer), ZZAP! 64 (dedicated to the 8-but Commodore 64 home computer), and Spectrum NEXT Magazine (dedicated to the modern ZX Spectrum NEXT update of the ZX Spectrum). Both Crash and ZZAP! 64 are revivals of magazines originally published in the 1980s, while Fusion and Spectrum NEXT Magazine are all-new titles created by Fusion Retro Books.

Every year, Fusion Retro Books also publish special editions of these magazines for the festive season, in the form of hardbacked annuals. Production of Fusion Retro Books’ annuals is always funded via Kickstarter campaigns, and the Kickstarter campaign for the 2026 annuals (to be published in late 2025) launched today (October 8, 2025).

Most of the annuals are published in A5 size, with the Crash and ZZAP! 64 annuals being available in either A5 or A4, and the Spectrum Next annual being available in A4 only.

At the time of writing, the 2026 Fusion Retro Books annuals Kickstarter campaign still has 19 days to go and has already raised £25,186 from 497 backers, considerably exceeding the project’s £25,186 goal.

I'm a retro gamer and writer who writes about video games for online and print outlets. My love of gaming began way back in 1986 with the ZX Spectrum, before becoming a lifelong Nintendo fan in 1990 with the Game Boy. And although I keep up with modern gaming, we all know you can't beat retro classics (or maybe I'm just old!)
