Metal Mack is a forthcoming new run ‘n’ gun game for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and Neo Geo, with both versions also comprising a Steam release.
As with so many homebrew titles these days, the development and production of Metal Mack is being funded via a crowdfunding campaign through Kickstarter.
The game has already blasted its £15,265 goal into smithereens, with the current total amount pledged standing at £18,733 from 147 backers at the time of writing, and 27 days left to run on the campaign.
The game’s developer, BitBeamCannon, describes Metal Mack as a “fast paced 16-bit action game set in a fun and colorful cartoony-futuristic world, adding that, “Metal Mack spoofs and parodies great games from the 8 and 16-bit era.”
Notably, the game will feature a new soundtrack by Allister Brimble and Chris Huelsbeck!
Rewards on offer in Metal Mack’s Kickstarter campaign include standard and deluxe editions of the game for Steam, and standard and deluxe physical cartridge editions for Genesis/Mega Drive and Neo Geo MVS.
All of the deluxe editions of Metal Mack come with a variety of extra physical and digital items, including a full color manual, a strategy guide magazine, a set of six trading cards, and a sticker sheet, and digital goodies including a PDF Manual, a downloadable OST, and a PDF art gallery.
