Ninja Gaiden Shadow DX ROM Hack Out Now

Ninja Gaiden Shadow DX is a colorized version of the Game Boy title Ninja Gaiden Shadow, created by homebrew coder Marc Max, on who’s similar hack Mole Mania DX we previously reported.

Ninja Gaiden Shadow was originally released exclusively for Game Boy by Tecmo in 1991 (1992 in Europe).
Ninja Gaiden Shadow was the fifth Ninja Gaiden game to be released, following the arcade original, Ninja Gaiden for home systems, Ninja Gaiden II for NES, and Ninja Gaiden III for NES. Of course, the series is still going strong today, with the most recent instalment, Ninja Gaiden 4, hitting modern formats just two months ago.

And now, over 30 years after its original release, the homebrew coder Marc Max has remastered Ninja Gaiden Shadow, adding color to its monochrome graphics, and thus creating a Game Boy Color version of the game, in the form of Ninja Gaiden Shadow DX.

In order to get Ninja Gaiden DX for Game Boy Color, you will need a ROM file of the US version of the original Game Boy Ninja Gaiden Shadow.

If you have this, you can patch your ROM for the US version of Ninja Gaiden Shadow at this link, in order to create a Ninja Gaiden Shadow DX ROM for Game Boy Color. The patched ROM will work in both Game Boy Color hardware and Game Boy Color emulators.
