Rack ‘Em Up is this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 lines of emulated coin-op titles for modern formats, following last week’s release of Cameltry, on which we reported previously.
Rack ‘Em Up is a 1987 pool game by Konami that was originally released in Japan under the title ‘The Hustler,’ its name was presumably changed in the West to avoid unintrnded unsavory connotations, or confusion with a certain “gentlemen’s periodical”.
Hamster Corporation says of Rack ‘Em Up that: “you can play pool (pocket billiards) with Nine-Ball or Rotation rules. A key feature of this game is the ability to check the positions of the cue ball and object balls on the 3D screen. The game appeals to a wide range of age groups.”
Despite being almost 40 years old, these releases of Rack ‘Em Up appear to be the very first home releases for the game.
The Arcade Archives version of Rack ‘Em Up began release from today on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, priced at $7.99 USD or local equivalent.
Meanwhile, the Arcade Archives 2 version of the game, which adds a new Time Attack Mode, began release on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, priced at $9.99 USD or local equivalent.
As usual, purchasers of the Arcade Archives version of the game on Nintendo Switch or PlayStation 4 can upgrade to the Arcade Archives 2 version on Nintendo Switch 2 or PlayStation 5 respectively for $2.99 USD or local equivalent.
