Knee-Deep in the ‘90s Book set to dive into the early days of FPSs This December

Knee-Deep in the ‘90s is a new book that aims to get down and dirty into the nitty gritty of the first-person shooters of the 1990s, via both new and archival interviews, and deep dives into over 20 of the genre’s titles from the decade.

The book has been written by David L Craddock, who comes with some pretty heavy duty recommendations, having been referred to as: “the foremost chronicler of FPS history,” by none other than John Romero, and as: “the premier FPS historian working today,” by Dave Oshry.

Knee-Deep in the ‘90s is set to be published on December 10, 2026, which just happens to be the date of the 33rd anniversary of the release of the original Doom for MS-DOS.

Knee-Deep in the ‘90s will be published in a variety of formats, including hardcover, paperback, audiobook, and Ebook, with the Kindle version available to pre-order from Amazon now, and it’s also available to pre-order on other Ebook platforms from this link.

While the Ebook and paperback versions are text only, the hardcover version of the book will also feature full-color images, such as screenshots of the featured games.

With titles such as Knee-Deep in the ‘90s and the upcoming guide to the Famicom, Beyond the NES, on which we reported previously, on the horizon, there’s going to plenty to keep we retro gamers reading over the next few months!
