Nobunaga’s Ambition II has been released as this week’s entry in Hamster Corporation’s Console Archives line of emulated titles from classic consoles for modern formats, following last week’s release of The Conveni 2, on which we reported previously.
Nobunaga’s Ambition II is the sequel to – you guessed it – Nobunaga’s Ambition, which, itself was released as a Console Archives title back in March of this year, as we reported at the time.
Nobunaga’s Ambition II was originally released by Koei back in 1988, appearing on machines including Famicom, PC-88, FM-Towns, and Sharp X1. With later ports including Sega Saturn, PlayStation, and Game Boy Color, but it is the Famicom version of Nobunaga’s Ambition II that forms the basis of its Console Archives release.
Hamster Corporation describes Nobunaga’s Ambition II as an: “authentic simulation war game,” in which you: “command a vast array of unique officers and utilize every strategy and tactic at your disposal to unify all 38 fiefs spanning regions such as Kanto and Chubu.” Hamster adds that: “expanding upon its predecessor, “Nobunaga’s Ambition, this entry features a multi-scenario system with two distinct scenarios, and a roster of approximately 400 real historical samurai!”
The Console Archives version of Nobunaga’s Ambition II was released on Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 on September 10, 2026, priced at $7.99 USD or local equivalent.
