THEC64 & THESpectrum Handhelds Delayed for Over 6 Months

We have reported previously on forthcoming THEC64 and THESpectrum handhelds based on the 8-bit Commodore 64 home computer and the 8-bit ZX Spectrum home computer respectively, from Blaze Entertainment’s HyperMegaTech! brand in conjunction with Retro Games Ltd., with both handhelds set to be released next month, on October 15, 2026.

However, yesterday (September 29, 2026) HyperMegaTech! Issued a statement announcing that the release of both THE64 and THESpectrum handhelds will be delayed by just over six months, until April 22, 2027.

The reason given by HyperMegaTech! For the delay is that: “During production, we identified areas where the product construction was not meeting our high standards,” adding that: “while we could address some issues quickly and release the products in 2026, we believe taking this additional time is the right decision to give you the best experience possible.”

Blaze Entertainment’s other new handheld, the Evercade Nexus, on which we have also reported previously, is not affected by the delays and is still set to be released on October 30, 2026, as planned.

Of course, THEC64 and THESpectrum handhelds aren’t the only new consoles based on beloved platforns of the past to be facing delays, as we reported previously in delays focing the highly anticipated Neo Geo AES+ from SNK and Plaion Replai.
