Mister Scary Now Terrorizing Modern Formats

We first began covering the homebrew NES platformer Mister Scary – Where Are You? almost a year ago, back when developer Clay Lancaster (AKA Calgames) was seeking funds to produce physical NES and Famicom versions of his game. We later covered the success of the Kickstarter campaign, and we subsequently reported on the release of the game as a digital NES ROM.

And now, just in time for Halloween, the indie publisher Ratalaika Games has brought Mister Scary – Where Are You? To modern formats.

Ratalaika describes Mister Scary – Where Are You? as follows: “In this Halloween themed game you will play as Mister Scary, a purple monster that has lost his family. Make your way through the creepies and crawlies of a strange land to find them!”

Features promised in Mister Scary – Where Are You? include:

• Six scary stages, each with their own sub-areas.
• Six different scary bosses.
• Stomp on your enemies! Or… eat a scary spicey or icy snack to torch or freeze your foes.
• Scary tokens are everywhere. Collect 15 and earn an extra life!
• A scary world map guides you through your adventure.
• Game soundtrack by Logan E. Schad and Kevin Van Der Burg.

Mister Scary – Where Are You? Was released today (October 2, 2026) on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4&5, and XBOX.

We hope you bring you a review of Mister Scary – Where Are You? soon, providing we’re not too scared to play it, of course!
