SNK’s 1988 golf arcade title, Fighting Golf, has been announced as this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 lines of emulated coin-op titles for modern formats, following last week’s release of Balloon Bomber, on which we reported at the time.
Hamster Corporation describes \fighting Golf as follows: “choose one of four characters with unique strengths in distance and accuracy, and take on 18 varied holes filled with three types of rough, two types of bunkers, oceans, rivers, and dense trees. Advice is displayed before starting each hole, and the optimal club is automatically picked for you based on the distance to the pin to guide your strategy!”
7The game was released in North America under the title ‘Lee Trevino’s Fighting Golf,’ and it was famously parodied as ‘Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge’ in an episode of The Simpsons.
The Arcade Archives version of Fighting Golf will be released from today (October 8, 2026), on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, priced at $7.99 USD or local equivalent.
Meanwhile, the Arcade Archives 2 version of Fighting Golf, which adds a new Time Attack mode to the game, will be released on PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S, priced at $9.99 USD or local equivalent, skipping a Nintendo Switch 2 release, unusually.
As usual, purchasers of the Arcade Archives version of the game on PlayStation 4 can upgrade to the Arcade Archives 2 version of the game on PlayStation 5 at a later date, for $2.99 USD or local equivalent.
