The Crash Team Racing 60 FPS widescreen mod is now available for download after 2 years of development and over 1000 hours of testing.
This exciting news was announced recently through a trailer on Darkaiser‘s YouTube channel. The mod, created by a team of engineers and testers, improves the game’s frame rate to 60FPS and allows players to enjoy the game in 16×9 widescreen. A separate 60FPS patch is also available for those who prefer to play in the standard 4×3 format.
This complex mod was made possible by a new initiative in the modding community, utilizing a rewrite of the PS1 game’s source code. The goal is to potentially combine all mods created using this rewrite into a “super-mod” for the ultimate Crash Team Racing experience. Players interested in trying out the mod can download it from Darkaiser‘s video description, but will need a copy of the game and the PS1 emulator Duckstation to run it.
