Astro Climber, a New Master System Game Out Now

Astro Climber is a new homebrew platform game for the Sega Master System, created by the homebrew developer BadComputer, who has previously released the homebrew Master System shooter Frontier Force, on which we previously reported.

BadComputer has released Astro Climber in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Master System in Japan (where it was released as the Sega Mark III, back in 1985), before heading to the West a year later under the Master System name.

Features of Astro Climber include: “grapple-platforming; 32 stages; and a printable manual in different languages.”
A physical release of Astro Climber is planned for next year, but for now, the ROM of Astro Climber is available as a free download from Bad Copmputer’s itch.io page, through if you’re feeling generous, or you think BadComputer deserves payment for his hard work, you can choose to name your own price when you download Astro Climber.

In addition to Astro Climber, other Master System downloads available from BadComputer’s itch.io page include the previously mentioned Frontier Force ($4.99), a shoot ‘em up titled Blast Arena (free), and an alpha demo of a shoot ‘em up titled Razing Core (free).

So, what better way to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of Sega’s 8-bit console than by playing a new game for the format?!
