Battlantis Battles out of the Arcade Archives

Battlantis is this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 lines of emulated coin-op titles, following on from last week’s release of Ge Bee, which was actually the very first home release of what was Namco’s very first arcade title, on which we previously reported.

This week’s title, Battlantis, is a shooter that was originally released into arcades by Konami back in 1987.

Hamster Corporation describes the objective of Battlantis as being to “to defend your castle from an invading army of monsters. You must defeat all enemies before they climb the castle walls.”

The game’s only other home release prior to today’s Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 releases was for Microsoft’s Game Room service on the Xbox 360 and Games for Windows – Live back in 2010, so once again, Hamster Corporation really have delved deep into their Arcade Archives to bring us a little-seen title, in order to introduce it to whole new generation of retro gamers.

The Arcade Archives release of Battlantis was released today on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, priced at $7.99, and the Arcade Archives 2 version of the game was released on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, priced at $9.99. Users who buy the Arcade Archives version will be able to upgrade to the Arcade Archives 2 version for $2.99.
