Black Tiger Fan Port Coming to Genesis/Mega Drive

Known as Black Dragon in Japan, Black Tiger is a platform arcade game that was originally released into arcades in 1987, before receiving home ports to a number of home computers, but one of the machines that did not receive a home port of Black Tiger was the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, which a  new fan port of the game is seeking to rectify.

The new Mega Drive/Genesis fan port of Black Tiger is still a work in progress, and it is a passion project of of the Canadian indie developer Monster Bath Games, which has bee n posting video of its progress on YouTube. In its latest update, Monster Bath Games stated that it had almost completed level two of the game, so there could still be some time before we see a finished version of the Genesis/Mega Drive fan port of Black Tiger, but in the meantime, you can follow the port’s [progress via Monster Bath GamesYouTube channel.

Previous games developed by Monster Bath Games include the Steam run ‘n’ gun game Deathwish Enforcers, and the Princess Madelyn series of retro-style platform games, so based on its track record, Monster Bath Games seems well-placed to convert Black Tiger to the Genesis/Mega Drive.

I'm a retro gamer and writer who writes about video games for online and print outlets. My love of gaming began way back in 1986 with the ZX Spectrum, before becoming a lifelong Nintendo fan in 1990 with the Game Boy. And although I keep up with modern gaming, we all know you can't beat retro classics (or maybe I'm just old!) https://x.com/paultwist
