Chopper I Blasts out of the Arcade Archives

Chopper I, a vertically scrolling SNK shoot ‘em up from 1988, is this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives line of emulated arcade titles. And like other recent Arcade Archives releases such as Air Combat 22 and Aqua Jet, Chopper I has been released simultaneously as part of both the Arcade Archives and the Arcade Archives 2 lines, which means that in addition to being available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, Chopper I is also available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, though, unlike previous Arcade Archives 2 releases, Chopper I has not received a dedicated Switch 2 release. The Arcade Archives 2 version of Chopper I also introduces a new Time Attack mode to the game.

Originally released in Japan under the title The Legend of Air Cavalry, the Arcade Archives release of Chopper I is available now, with the Arcade Archives version priced at $7.99, and the Arcade Archives 2 version costing $9.99, though purchasers of the Arcade Archives version of Chopper I may choose to upgrade to the Arcade Archives 2 version at a later date for $2.99.

If you’d like to revisit the arcades of 1988, but from the comfort of your own home, Chopper I is out now on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
