Command & Conquer, Westwood Studios’ seminal real-time strategy game, was originally released back in 1995 on MS-DOS, later receiving ports to formats sch as Windows 95, Mac OS, Sega Saturn, PlayStation and Nintendo 64.
One format on which the game did not receive an official port was the 16-bit Atari ST home computer, because that format was no longer commercially viable by the mid-90s!
But commercial viability, or lack of, isn’t a concern to homebrew developers, so a homebrew dev by the name of Jonas Eschenburg (AKA Indyjo) has decided to port Command & Conquer to the Atari ST.
While the The original DOS version of Command & Conquer ran on 256-color VGA graphics. The ST port has to run on 16 colors, giving the Atari ST version of the game an even stronger retro aesthetic than that of the 1995 original!
Command & Conquer for Atari ST runs on all Atari ST(E), Atari TT and Atari Falcon computers.
Jonas Eschenburg’s Atari ST fan port of Command & Conquer was published last week, on September 17, 2026, and it is available to download now from itch.io, on a “name your own price” basis.
Command & Conquer isn’t the only game from after the Atari ST’s time to be ported to the format in recent weeks, as we have also reported on an Atari ST port of the 1993 title Dune II recently.
