Crazy Climber has been announced as this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s Console Archives line of games from classic consoles, re-released for modern formats, following on from last week’s release of Nobunaga’s Ambition II, on which we reported at the time.
Originally released into arcades by Nichibutsu back in 1980, Crazy Climber was later ported to a number of home formats, including the Atari 2600, Sharp X68000, Arcadia 2001, and the Famicom, and it was even to the WonderSwan! But it’s the 1986 Famicom version of the game that forms the basis of this new Console Archives release.
Hamster Corporation describes the aim of Crazy Climber as being to: “watch out for falling objects from above! Ascend a skyscraper while dodging annoying enemies such as Ojamaman, Iron ball, and Gorillas,” adding that: “successfully reaching the rooftop of the building completes the level.”
The Famicom version of Crazy Climber was released only in Japan, never receiving an English NES translation, so the in-game text is in Japanese, but the option menus and manuals are also available in English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.
The Console Archives version of Crazy Climber is released on Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 today (September 17, 2026), priced at $7.99 USD or local equivalent.
