Demons of Asteborg DX is Neofid Studios’ enhanced remake of its first game, the retro-inspired platformer Demons of Asteborg, which was released for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive back in 2021, and we’ve previously reported on subsequent releases in the Asteborg series.
The enhanced remake, Demons of Asteborg DX, has been developed for two more powerful, yet still retro, consoles, namely the Game Boy Advance and Neo Geo, and it is already available digitally via itch.io.
However, pre-orders for a physical release of the Game Boy Advance version of Demons of Asteborg DX are now open, with eight days of the pre-order campaign left to run at the time of writing.
Developer Neofid Studios describes Demons of Asteborg DX as follows: “Step into the boots of Gareth, a Royal Guard knight with a mysterious past, and use your sword and spells to defeat Zadimus’s demon army and save the Kingdom of Asteborg in this modern action-platformer with retro inspirations!”
The DX version of Demons of Asteborg offers the following improvements over the original game: improved gameplay; fully reworked environments; new bosses and enemies; an exclusive level; an exclusive OST; redesigned menus; and plenty of secrets.
The physical GBA version of Demons of Asteborg DX is available to pre-order now, via the KuneKune platform. A physical Neo Geo release of the game is planned for November 2026.
