The Evercade Highlight of the Month for June is available now to owners of Evercade VS, Evercade EXP, and Evercade Alpha machines. This month’s Evercade Highlight of the Month is Alligator Hunt, a 1994 shooting gallery style shoot ‘em up in the vein of Cabal, by Gaelco.
We’ve been reporting on the Evercade Highlight of the Month titles each month since Evercade Highlight of the Month launched in March this year, with subsequent titles following in April and May, and now, June.
The Evercade Highlight of the Month program allows owners of compatible Evercade hardware the chance to play a title from a previous Evercade cartridge for free, simply by updating the console’s system software, and the game remains playable until the software is updated again, when it is replaced by that month’s Evercade Highlight of the Month.
The Evercade Highlight of the Month program replaced the similar Evercade Game of the Month program, which previewed new homebrew titles that were coming to future Evercade Indie Heroes cartridges, instead focusing on games from previously released cartridges.
This month’s Evercade Highlight of the Month, Alligator Hunt, was first released on Evercade on the Gaelco Arcade 1 cartridge, which, remarkably, was Alligator Hunt’s debut on a home console, some 27 years after the game hunted its way into arcades!
