The Evercade Highlight of the Month for May 2025 has gone live for users of compatible Evercade consoles. As we previously reported, this program gives Evercade users the chance to sample one of the games included on a previous Evercade cartridge release, simply by updating the console’s system software to the latest version.

The Evercade Highlight of the Month for May 2025 is the puzzle game Old Towers, which saw release on Evercade on the Mega Cat Studios Collection 1 cartridge. The new Evercade Highlight of the Month was revealed on the official Evercade blog. Old Towers is a “neo-retro” game that was developed for the SNES.

As usual, the Evercade Highlight of the Month will remain playable on the console until the system software is updated again, bringing a new Evercade Highlight of the Month in its place. Old Towers replaces the previous Evercade Highlight of the Month, which was Zool, on which we previously reported, which itself replaced Midnight Resistance, on which we also reported.

Our headline teased more, and that’s because the Evercade Highlight of the Month isn’t the only exciting addition that the latest Evercade system software brings! It also adds mouse support for several games on the Evercade VS and Evercade Alpha consoles. The games currently compatible with mouse on Evercade have been confirmed as Z, Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars, Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror, Future Wars, Operation Stealth, and Arcade Pool. Experimental mouse control replicating the paddle has also been implanted on select Atari 2600 games on the console.
