Insider @MbKKssTBhz5, known for being very active on X.com, has provided an update on the Final Fantasy IX remake. She revealed that the remake is still in progress but has faced obstacles along the way. Despite not being cancelled during Square Enix’s restructuring, the development was outsourced to another studio which did not meet expectations, leading to delays.
The insider does not have any further information on the project or whether it will be released in the current fiscal year. Additionally, she advises gamers to manage their expectations for the Xbox Games Showcase where Square Enix will unveil some games, as it is uncertain if the Final Fantasy IX Remake will be included in the lineup.
The Final Fantasy IX remake is still in development. It is a title that was not cancelled in the restructure of SQEX during this fiscal year.
According to conversations, the title was originally outsourced to another developer. But SQEX was not satisfied and development shifted.
