Coder Iván Delgado has been working on a method of converting Game Boy games to the Game Boy Advance, and in doing so, he has created what he calls the “GB Bridge,” which he describes as “a modified GB>GBA emulator” that is “basically a GBC with a different memory map, a bigger screen, and extra inputs.” Delgado intends to use his GB Bridge to create ports of Game Boy titles for the Game Boy Advance, and he is currently working on a port of the 1989 Game Boy title Super Mario Land for the Game Boy Advance.
Posting on X, Delgado warns that his projects are “long term,” so don’t expect to be playing Super Mario Land on your Game Boy Advance any time soon!
Iván Delgado’s previous projects have included colorizing Game Boy games such as The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening for the Game Boy Color, so converting Game Boy games to Game Boy Advance is perhaps the next logical evolution of his work.
We at Retro News wish Iván Delgado the best of luck with his GB Bridge project, ad we look forward to seeing his Game Boy Advance port of Super Mario Land, with hopefully many more to come!
