GOG has officially launched Dreamlist, a new feature that allows users to vote for and request classic games they want to see revived on the platform. Announced on January 29, 2025, Dreamlist replaces the older Community Wishlist with a more robust and user-friendly system. The tool not only lets users vote for their favorite games but also encourages them to share personal stories and memories tied to these titles, creating a collaborative effort to preserve gaming history.
The data collected from Dreamlist will be used by GOG to negotiate with intellectual property holders and publishers, aiming to bring back games that might otherwise remain inaccessible. Each game on the Dreamlist has its own dedicated page where fans can cast votes and contribute narratives. GOG hopes this will provide additional leverage in discussions with rights holders, especially for games that have proven difficult to re-release due to licensing or technical challenges.
This initiative builds on GOG’s ongoing commitment to game preservation, exemplified by its Preservation Program, which ensures compatibility and availability of older games on modern systems. Recent successes like the re-release of Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 demonstrate the platform’s dedication to reviving beloved classics. With Dreamlist, GOG aims to further empower its community while continuing its mission of keeping gaming history alive.
