We reported previously that a sequel to the 3D isometric adventure game Head Over Heels was in the works from Colin Porch, who worked on the 1987 original, and who had been secretly working on the sequel since the publication of the first game.
Now, the Head Over Heels sequel, titled Return to Blacktooth, has been released by Thalamus Digital as a digital download for the 16-bit Commodore Amiga and Atari ST home computers, almost 40 years after the original Head Over Heels was first released.
Publisher Thalamus Digital describes Return to Blacktooth as: “an old-school isometric arcade adventure and the spiritual successor to the much-revered ‘80s classic Head Over Heels,” going on to list the features of the game as: “old-school isometric arcade action; over 300 rooms to explore; a host of new features and hazards; all-new puzzles and level layouts; glorious pixelated isometric graphics; an epic soundtrack by Jochen Feldkoetter; and whacky sound effects by h0ffman.”
Return to Blacktooth is currently available from publisher Thalamus Digital for the introductory price of $9.74 USD, which is a 25% saving on the usual price of $12.99 USD.
As of yet, there’s no news on Return to Blacktooth making the leap onto modern formats, but we’d be very surprised if it didn’t happen in the future, as the original Head Over Heels is such a beloved title amongst home computer fans.
