In the Shadow of the CPC is a proposed new book dedicated to Amstrad’s 8-bit CPC range of home computers, which is described by its publisher, Editions 64K as: “the first English coffee table Amstrad book.
The aim of In the Shadow of the CPC is to celebrate “the Legacy of Amstrad games.”
The publishers say of the book that: “through a careful selection of iconic titles, this project traces the history, creativity and soul of a machine that had a profound impact on European video games, particularly in France.”
The book promises to be “richly illustrated,” combining screenshots, anecdotes and interviews.
The publisher summarizes In the Shadow of the CPC as: “above all a labour of love and a means of passing on knowledge, with the aim of preserving the memory of the CPC and paying tribute to the developers and gamers who brought this unique machine to life.”
So, if you’re a fan of Amstrad’s 8-bit micro, or if you’re curious and you’d like to learn more about it, why not back In the Shadow of the CPC on Kickstarter?
At the time of writing, the project has raised £7,427 of its £12,164 goal from 163 backers, and the campaign still has 18 days left to run. We wish the project every success, as the Amstrad computers are often overshadowed by their 8-bit rivals, the ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64, so they deserve their moment in the sun!
