Mega Cat Studios’ NES platform game Reknum Souls Adventure is currently available to download on a ‘name your own price’ basis via itch.io, so, you can, should you choose to, download the game for free.
Reknum Souls Adventure was originally released back in 2022, and it’s been described by Mega Cat Studios as “a retro-inspired action platformer for the NES blending exploration, puzzles, combat, and emotional storytelling into a classic 8-bit adventure.”
Features promised in the game include: “retro 2D action-adventure gameplay; explore towns, dungeons, and overworld areas; unlock special weapons and abilities; puzzle-solving and platforming challenges; epic boss battles inspired by classic NES games; NPC interactions, secrets, and hidden items; and an authentic retro pixel art and chiptune atmosphere.”
If you prefer your NES games in physical format, you can also purchase the game as a physical NES cartridge, via Mega Cat Studios, but that version obviously isn’t available for free!
Also currently available on a ‘name your own price’ basis via itch.io (or, again, for free, if you like) is Mega Cat Studios’ SNES top-down arcade shooter Super Fanger, which was first released back in January of this year, and which too is also available as a physical cartridge (but, again, not for free, of course!) We played and enjoyed Super Fanger upon its release, so it’s well worth a download!
