Mega Pang Bursts onto Genesis/Mega Drive

Mega Pang is a new Genesis/Mega Drive fan conversion of Mitchell Corporation & Capcom’s bubble bursting arcade classic Pang, which was released under the title Buster Bros. in the USA.

While Mega Pang is still a work in progress, currently at beta stage, the latest build of the game, Mega Pang Beta 0.3, has now been released to the public.

The game’s developer, RCampeador, lists the features of Mega Pang as…

“Destructibles — Balls and Hexagons that split into smaller ones when hit
Enemies — Crocodile, Demon, and Bird with three movement patterns (Roller, Inverted-T, Zig-Zag)
Power-ups — Double harpoon, fixed hook, machine gun, dynamite, clock slow, clock stop, shield, 1UP
Scoring — Per-player score popups, combo multipliers, end-of-level bonuses, and fruit pickups
World map — Animated plane transitions between level groups
Music & SFX — Original YM2612 FM soundtrack + PCM sound effects”.

Mega Pang is compatible with Genesis/Mega Drive emulators, and with original Genesis/Mega Drive hardware, and the latest build of the game can be downloaded from itch.io.

Pang, the game on which Mega Pang is based, was originally released into arcades by Mitchell Corporation in 1989, before receiving conversions to a number of home computers and consoles, and eventually, to mobile phones. However,  the game has never received an official conversion to MegaDrive/Genesis, which is why this fan port, Mega Pang is being developed.
