BillyTime!Games has released a new ROM hack for the Mega Drive/Genesis, revitalizing the classic 1991 action roguelike Toejam & Earl. In this remix, titled Toejam and Earl – Funkotronic Remix, players control two alien rappers stranded on floating islands, aiming to gather their ship’s wreckage while avoiding quirky enemies.
The hack retains original gameplay but enhances it with several changes, such as reducing the number of starting presents, allowing randomization of starting items, and extending item durations. Players can skip the initial flying ship sequence and have an easier time approaching the Santa enemy. Additionally, new cheats include randomizing all enemies and revealing item locations.
The patch is available for download at the ROM Hack Plaza.
