Nintendo Files Lawsuit Against Switch Modchip Seller and Reddit Moderator

Nintendo has filed lawsuits against a Switch modchip seller named Ryan Daly and the moderator of the Switch piracy Reddit page, James Williams. Daly, operating under the store Modded Hardware, continued to sell modded Switch consoles and MIG Switches despite being warned by Nintendo to stop. The company accuses him of trafficking in circumvention devices and copyright infringement. Nintendo is seeking financial damages and the shutdown of his website.

Williams, also known as Archbox on Reddit, is accused of operating several pirate shops offering pirated Nintendo Switch games. Nintendo claims he was the driving force behind these shops and grew the SwitchPirates Reddit community to nearly 190,000 members. The company is seeking financial damages from Williams and demanding the shutdown of any remaining pirate shops and related social media accounts.
