Obscure Genesis Game Ghost Hunter set to Return

Ghost Hunter is a game for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive from 1994 that never received an official release, and which was only ever available as a bootleg, owing to the fact that the game is a clone of the Capcom arcade title Buster Bros./Pang.

However, now, some 32 years after its original (albeit limited) release, the homebrew developer and publisher (and pizza place) I Heart Pizza LLC is set to bring Ghost Hunter to a wider audience, with a new release of the game, with plans to release Ghost Hunter for modern formats, as well as a physical cartridge release for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive.
In a post about the game on its X account, I Heart Pizza LLC says of Ghost Hunter that: “his hidden gem was never widely released. We’re fixing that,” adding that its new release of Ghost Hunter will feature: “new haiku (!), sound effects, stage select, & more!”

When addressing the thorny issue of the use of AI in game development, I Heart Pizza LLC confirms that: “No generative AI used in any facet of this project.”

Other Genesis/Mega Drive games currently in the works from I Heart Pizza include a puzzle game titled Zibblets and a fighting game called Go For It!

In addition to being a development studio for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive homebrew games, I Heart Pizza is also an actual retro game-themed pizza place based in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
