We reported previously on the announcement of the Super Bomberman Collection, a compilation of Hudson Soft’s SNES/Super Famicom outings or their explosive little fellow, and soon, the Super Bomberman Collection will be even more explosive, as a post on the official Bomberman X account has announced that the puzzle game Panic Bomber W will be added to the Super Bomberman Collection as a free update, to be released on August 20,2026.
But unlike the bomb-dropping maze-based shenanigans of the mainline Super Bomberman games, Panic Bomber W is a falling block puzzle game in the vein of Tetris, albeit with an explosive twist, of course.
Panic Bomber W was originally released for the PC Engine Super CD-ROM in 1994 before receiving a port to the Super Famicom in 1995, then going on to receive ports to a number of other formats. The version of Panic Bomber W that’s going to be added to the Super Bomberman Collection will be the Super Famicom version, which will be the first time that the Super Famicom version of the game has been released outside of Japan, as it never received an international SNES release at the time, though the Virtual Boy version of Panic Bomber W did receive a North American release in 1995.
