With so many of us now relying on streaming service to consume our music, bands are looking for increasingly inventive ways to encourage their fans to shell out for physical releases of their music, and the Nottingham-based emo band Pillow Fort has come up with one that will be of particular interest to retro gamers: they are going to release their 10 track debut album, Indefinite, but not Forever as a boxed Game Boy Advance cartridge!
In addition to all 10 tracks from the album, the cart will also include a rhythm game that has been developed by the band, which they describe as “surprisingly difficult.”
Of course, the album will also be released on more traditional formats as well, including digital download, cassette, and blue and white colored 12” vinyl.
The physical Game Boy Advance version of the very emo-titled Indefinite, but not Forever is limited to just 30 copies, but it will also be released as a digital download upon release of the album.
Indefinite, but not Forever is set to be released by the band’s own Cushion Castle record label on October 2, 2026, and it can currently be pre-ordered now via Pillow Fort’s Bandcamp page.
