Get your Qix on Retrocade Now

We reported previously on the Apple Arcade app Retrocade, which gives players the chance to enjoy classic arcade games in a virtual 1980s arcade environment, and, as of yesterday (August 27, 2026), yet another arcade classic was added to the app, in the form of Qix, Taito’s classic box-drawing puzzler.

Originally released in arcades in 1981, in Qix, the aim of the game is to claim territory across the playfield while dodging the unpredictable Qix and Sparx enemies, and the game’s  arrival on Retrocade brings the app’s lineup to 14 titles in total.

Retrocade is available on Apple Arcade, and it can be played on iPhone, iPad, Apple Vision Pro, Mac and Apple TV, with global leaderboards and unlockable achievements on offer.

*Tetris is not available in Retrocade for iPhone/iPad. We guess the infamously convoluted licensing agreements for Tetris must mean that Nintendo still has exclusivity on the game appearing on handheld formats?
