The Resident Evil remake, initially released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2002, brought a mature tone to the console and set a high standard for remakes. This revamped version of Capcom‘s original 1996 Resident Evil game featured stunning new visuals and introduced new locations and terrifying monsters to the iconic Spencer Mansion. Even years later, the remake continues to impress with its visuals and classic survival horror gameplay.
In 2015, a remaster enhanced the game further with improved visuals and updated control schemes. For those playing on PC, a free upscaling mod called ‘Rescale‘ by Arcturium significantly enhances over 2,500 pre-rendered backgrounds, offering a visually improved experience. While this mod is exclusive to PC, the original remake still delivers a visually appealing and thrilling experience on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
