Ripple Island Makes Waves out of the Console Archives from Today

Ripple Island has been announced as this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s Console Archives line of emulated games from classic consoles for modern formats, following last week’s release of Chack’n Pop, on which we reported at the time.

This week’s Console Archives game, Ripple Island, is an adventure game that was originally released by Sunsoft in 1988, in Japan only, on the Famicom.

Hamster Corporation describes Ripple Island as follows: “this is an adventure game in which the player takes on the role of the protagonist Kyle and goes on an adventure while operating 9 types of commands. Whether you can rescue Princess Nasareru, who was kidnapped by a monster calling himself Emperor Groaker, bring peace back to Ripple Island, and be united with the heroine depends on your judgment and actions.”

As the game never received an international NES release, the in-game text in Ripple Island is in Japanese only, but the menus and manuals are also available in English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.

The Console Archives version of Ripple Island will be released from today (October 8, 2026) on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, priced at $7.99 USD or local equivalent, though at the time of writing, the Nintendo Switch 2 version is not yet live.
