Yesterday, we reported on a new Genesis/Mega Drive title that’s set to receive a physical edition from Broke Studio‘s Homebrew Factory service, if it receives enough pre-orders to make manufacturing the game commercially viable, so today we thought you might be interested to know that Homebrew Factory is also running a similar campaign to produce a physical version of a new shoot ‘em up for Game Boy Color, titled Skelost.
In order to make the physical version of Skelost a reality, Hombrew Factory needs to receive 31 pre-orders for the game, and at the time of writing, currently 22 pre-orders have been placed, with 18 days left for the campaign to run.
Homebrew Factory says of Skelost, that: “celebrating 27 years of the Game Boy Color, Skelost is a brand-new yōkai shooter built to run on original hardware.”
We’re not sure why the GBC’s 27th anniversary has been deemed worthy of celebration, but it’s always great to see another new homebrew title for the popular format.
The story of Skelost is described thusly: “in search of your lost family, you descend into a forgotten well. Below lies a haunting retro world inspired by Japanese folklore, where restless yōkai roam and long-buried secrets await.”
The game has been developed by Casey Atkins, and its physical release is set to include a game cartridge; a full color cardboard box; a full color manual; a ROM file to play in an emulator; and a Windows executable to play the game on your PC.
You can pre-order the physical GBC version of Skelost via Homebrew Factory now.
